CFRCs developed by Surface Transforms plc are designed to replace traditional carbon-carbon products by offering improved thermal and weight-saving properties, and superior braking performance.

The benefits of using CFRC aircraft brakes are:

  • Increased thermal mass of the heat pack
  • High consistent friction
  • Reduced wear
  • Reduced overall weight of the heat pack
  • A fast, low-cost production process

In January 2005, Surface Transforms signed a new aircraft brakes development contract with a major US manufacturer. More details will follow in line with the confidentiality requirements of this very important contract. 

In November 2003, Surface Transforms signed a multi-year licensing contract with Dunlop Aerospace, one of the world’s leading suppliers of aircraft braking systems and services, to develop a ceramic braking product for this market.
